Joey Stevens, Peer Visitor
Joey has been working with patients and their families for more than 15 years as a peer visitor. Having been an above knee amputee for more than 30 years, he is in a unique position to more fully understand what an amputee may be going through. Joey has mentored hundreds of amputees during those years. His greatest satisfaction comes from helping amputees realize they can have rewarding and fulfilling lives after going through such an ordeal. Joey works with amputees on an emotional level to help them reach their full potential. He understands that proper emotional support and peer mentorship are often some of the most important aspects of prosthetic care and success.
Joey is a brand and marketing strategist with Bremer Orthotics & Prosthetics. He has helped facilitate training seminars focusing on prosthetic care for physical therapists as well as occupational therapists over the last 15 years. He also works with medical staffs to ensure a smooth transition when patients are released from hospitals and rehab centers.
